End of Holidays, almost

So today is officially the end of the holidays and although i got up to alot, i did manage to get some great shots and some work done. I feel as though my photographing stages are nearly over as i have collected quite a few strong images to showcase, though like all great photographers/artists, i wont stop until the exhibition.

I don't want to give anything away, so heres a photo im proud of but not 'exactly' in the lines of my theme, enjoy.

On a small photographic Journey

Today, Harry and i went out on a small photography adventure around the coutnryside (local-ish to where we live). Since the car was up and running we thought it were a good oppurtunity to progress through our project. In generality some of the photos didn't end up relating that much to my chosen theme but they were still great shots.
The landscape worked well with the clear blue sky which i used effectively, even though the majority were in B/W (this helped alot with lighting). So even though most of the shots were quite scenic, i still grabbed some which played the part in 'hiding' the identity.

Cr1t 2 results

So the second crit ended with a big positive. Again i got my colleagues to share information and thoughts as to what they thought of my images. Questions like what is it, what does it make you feel, where does it take you, were answered again to my advantage.
I did get some negative criticism, like all things and this was mostly down to my image which used colour to provoke thoughts. I thought it was a great idea to experiment with this but people said it took away from the hidden'ness' and lacked that of a surreal state and almost gave itself away.
So i will take this on board unless i still feel there should be some aspects of colour involved. So from now my 'game' is still afoot and will need more interesting and what some put 'intriquing' images to go alongside with this.

Crit two today and will soon get the chance to get some needed feedback on my work and proposed idea. Will post what i learnt soon...

The office

Started watching a new episode of the Office (US, not as good by the way). Ricky gervais and the english office sprang to mind and it got me thinking back to when i was younger, where i would constantly watch the tv series.

New Idea

Today i had a 'new' idea though in relation with hidden identity and the 'slight manipulation'. I thought, since my brother is autistic, i would try and compile photos which shows how autism is only affected mentally. This first came to me in our contextual studies lesson when we were reviewing past exhibitions and one student created an installation, in memory of he sister. I thought how my brothers autism constantly affects my and my families life so creating an exhibition in relation to this would be a good cause.
What i would intend to showcase would be 30+ images of full portraits (face shot), 5 or so having autism and the rest being 'normal' (and i use the word normal loosely). I think doing this will primarily spread the word of autism as it would show they are not different in appearence than any of us, i.e. why should they be deterred for the way they look or act. Capturing a still image would hold this within its borders without, hopefully, revealing their actions.

Photos from Derby

Derby Visit

The visit to Derby was great and the amount of photography related subjects were outstanding. The QUAD had some very interesting pieces, especially the short films. i found that the lack of sound pushed me to think what could have spoken. The children running, laughing, the sound of the wind, cars driving by, all this sound we are usually familiar with being disbanded was almost a shock, in places i considered it to be creepy, as if i was expecting to find some hidden meaning.
The HAZE store had a rather creative 'printing' installation which included different images from different participants from around the world. I found the idea of mass and 'community' to strengthen photography exhibits on a whole.

First research Finale

Today i finalized on my research gathering for the first part of my sketchbook. This mostly included gathering images relating to Bokeh, pattern, illusion, shadows etc by doing this it has now granted me the chance to produce more work in the line of other segments of my book like artist studies and even starting contact sheets.

Simple walk

Yesterday i decided to go for a short walk since it was so sunny. I took my camera, hoping to find things that related to hidden identity. On the walk i came across a dire looking alleyway, with amature type graffiti on parts of the fencing and path. leading on to this path was a miniture forrest something which i didn't expect to see. I think the main cause of the surprise wass the fact it was a stones throw away from my house and that i didn't know it was there before.

FMP

I created this quote to convey my FMP idea in one go. I have spoken before about what i intend to produce but i lean towards this quote in helping me name the theme, even though it is lengthy.

Another Shoot.

Took some more images while the light was still good. I focused on my front room and living room for this shoot but i will be soon be on the way to taking images outside, or to see what i can at least find.
I believe that even these two images convey strong ideas of hidden identity with the use of natural and man made objects, aswell as the use of light and bokeh.

Even though i have taken more pictures than this, i just wanted to show one at the moment for you all to get an insight of what the start of my FMP will include.

Quick photo session

Began taking some quick photos of an on button (xbox 360). I took inspiration from my 'hula girl' bokeh image and did the same to this one, i feel the power sign is more obvious and easier to guess than a hula girl but still holds the same principle, though this can be good as it the audience can engage with the photo more, if they are familiar with the sign, or object etc.

Quick Inspiration

While browsing youtube i came across a song i used to listen to called 'golden cage' by The whitest boy alive. I'll link the video up so you can see for yourself but i feel the video itself (not the lyrics) hold some partial inspirational ideas which could help enthuase my theme.
The video is random in correlation to the song lyrics but it's all to do with illusions, e.g. colour mix-matching, impossible shapes, clever silhouettes and more. I feel even though this is more graphics related, the idea still poses some good information which i can include in my body of work.

Starting Out...

So i've began my FMP and i already have many ideas of what techniques i can use to progress the theme of Hidden Identity, these include Bokeh, Out of focus, blur, light painting, 'extreme close-ups' and more. I feel as though inspiration will take help throughout this process and will spark some other interesting concept ideas.
I started off thinking about my front page, i wanted to give it some impact in relation to hidden identity so i began experiemnting with different ideas and have already come up with 3 promising covers, i will present all of them in my sketchbook (mcuh smaller versions than a4) to show how i got to the final cover and why the others didn't make it.
